CRACKS

Thinking critically on past and present forms of historiography
and echoing Ursula Le Guin’s contention that history should be regarded as artistic storytelling rather than science, CRACKS explores concepts of mapping and archiving to allow hidden stories to emerge.
Through a focus on the ground, ranging from the industrial floors
of Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei to land formation in Leipzig Bay,
the project studies and documentes exposed layers, cavities, and material traces that indicate the passage of time and thefootprint of processes and actions.

CRACKS is an installation and project in progress that comprises soft materials, textiles and prints. Through its tactility, iconography and materiality it raises questions on historical context and linearity, human-made environments, engineered landscapes
and in frastructures for leisure.
