In LASKARINES, three contemporary dancers embody the emotionality of an inner fight: the fight for self-realization. Caught between personal dreams, social expectations, and life’s unpredictability, they navigate a balancing act that never fully succeeds. Choreographer Vasiliki Bara draws on her Greek heritage and contemporary media to create something new on stage. The title LASKARINES refers to Laskarina Bouboulina, a prominent fighter in the Greek Revolution of 1821, who was exiled due to political conflicts and ultimately lost her life in a family dispute. Would Laskarina make the same choices today?
